Know Your Worth -- 4 Wisdom Gems to Know the Value of Your Greatest Assets

It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer:

But when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.

Proverbs 20:14 KJV

It’s like in the marketplace when a bargain seeker tries to get an item for less than what it’s valued. They know what it’s worth, but they want to pay less. Whatever space you enter into, you have to know what you bring to the table. You have to know your value so no one can devalue the gifts and talents that you posses.

You know your worth because you know your work!

As a mother, as a wife, as a daughter, as an employee, as an employer, as a leader, as a servant, as a friend, etc. Don't believe the lies of the bargain seekers! Know that what you bring to the table is of value.

Take an assessment of every space you’ve served, of everything you’ve given. The gifts that God has given you are Precious!

Wisdom Gem #1 - Know Your Resumé

  • Know your gifts and talents and their value.

  • Know your academic and professional expertise and their value.

  • Know the attributes and characteristics you offer and their value.

Everything that I have, other than my salvation, I have paid for it! I am not a thief!

There’s an anointing for everything we have in our lives. Again, it is Precious! And there's a cost that we paid for it. And when we pour out, we are pouring out from that anointing – no matter what it is. (e.g. even when we prepare a meal, there’s an anointing.) Don’t let anyone tell you that it’s not!

In the photo of above, I can stand tall because I've paid some dues. I'm sure I have many more to pay. However, at 52 I've paid some toll fees! The cost to pass through on my way to my destination. I've paid in praying, fasting, studying the Word of God, tears, denying myself, taking down, standing up, going alone, studying all night, working all day, traveling, building, loving, giving, sacrificing, struggling, believing and trusting God, learning, listening, waiting, fighting the devil, teaching, preaching, saving, hoping, and stepping out on faith. And I count them all joy! This list (nothing like that of Apostle Paul's list) has made me into the Woman of God I am today.

Wisdom Gem #2 - Know What You Paid For IT!

  • Gather your receipts!

  • Don't operate from bitterness!

  • Realize these things added to the richness of your anointing.

  • Be grateful for all!

Jesus asked, "For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?" - St. Luke 18: 28 - 30.

There is a price that you have paid for the oil that rests on you! Whatever you're building, whatever you want in life, it's going to cost. Therefore, the finished product will not be cheap!

When someone says, “There’s something about you”, that’s the oil. It’s the oil of gladness! It’s the anointing! It’s the time you’ve spent before God. It’s the consecration! It's the dedication! It’s the commitment to the call of God.

It comes from your one-on-ones with God. Your anointing is Precious to you. Don’t let anyone devalue it. It came at a price. So, be careful when you pour it out and into whom you pour. Don’t sell your anointing or give it away because you have paid a price for it.

Wisdom Gem #3 - Don’t allow anyone to play you for cheap!

  • Listen and discern someone's intention.

  • Understand the space in which you're in - the marketplace, familiar or unfamiliar settings, or within close relationships.

  • Don't be rushed into a decision if at all possible.

  • Pray before you make longstanding costly (time, money, energy, emotions, intellectual capital, etc...) commitments.

You don’t have to be at the top of the pyramid, but wherever you are, God has blessed you with that measure of grace. You have suffered; you have lost many things; you have cried many nights and many tears just to get where you are.

There's more for you to do, but don’t take for granted where you are!

Celebrate what God has done in your life and what you have accomplished!

Wisdom Gem #4 - Don't forget to celebrate along the way!

  • Give God all the Glory!

  • Pray to be humble.

  • Use your assets where God leads you.
